Japanmuseum SieboldHuis will be renewed!

Posted on October 23, 2026

To make this possible, the ground floor will be closed from October 26 to December 9. However, our temporary exhibition Light over Deshima remains open to visitors. We look forward to welcoming you there!

The renewed presentation, on display from December 10, offers a new perspective on Phillip Franz von Siebold (1796-1866) and a broader view of his time, inspired by the successful book De zwevende wereld by Annejet van der Zijl. The focus is no longer solely on Siebold, but also on his Japanese family. The presentation brings together the lives of Siebold, his Japanese lover Kusumoto Taki (Otaki), their daughter Kusumoto Ine (Oine), and the enslaved boy Orson.
