Opening of the exhibition Tokyo Tokyo by Richard Koek

On Thursday, 2 April, Japan Museum SieboldHuis celebrated the opening of Tokyo Tokyo, a photography exhibition featuring the work of photographer Richard Koek. The evening centred on Koek’s personal exploration of the soul of Japan’s capital, with a special focus on everyday life, striking contrasts and the human stories that shape the city.

During the opening, His Excellency Mr Michii Rokuichiro, Ambassador of Japan to the Netherlands, received the first copy of the accompanying photobook Tokyo Tokyo. The Mayor of Leiden also attended the celebration. The exhibition is on view at the museum from 3 April to 6 September 2026.
