Exhibition

Stars, flowers and honey night

March 11th 2011 until April 24th 2011

In her work Aya Takano combines various worlds of art: 19th century Japonism, contemporary manga and science fiction. Placed in an imaginary futuristic world, her main characters consist of cute girls in colourful kimono that reminisce of young girls in the Edo period (c. 1600-1868) but also of modern women who try to exhibit a high degree of 'cuteness'. The highly acclaimed work of Aya Takano in this exhibition gives insight into the mainstream of contemporary Japanese popular art and culture.
