2011: “Kawaii” year

In 2011 the SieboldHuis will pay special attention to Japanese modern culture, focusing on Japanese youth. Four major exhibitions will be centred aound the 'kawaii' or 'cuteness' theme.

Japanese youngsters and adults alike are increasingly interested in cute things, ranging from Hello Kitty to small animals and cute girls. These four exhibitions show the effects of "Kawaii" on Japan's contemporary culture. Visit the exhibitions and find out how this Japanese cuteness trend influences the West.

The first exhibition is "Stars, flowers and honey night. Contemporary art by Takano Aya." The exhibition opens on March 11 and runs until April 24, 2011.
