Last Friday, March 11 the Eastern part of Japan has been hit by a massive earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale. The earthquake was followed by a tsunami of over 10 meters high. At least three nuclear facilities are facing major problems, endangering the local population even further. It is one of the worst earthquakes ever that hit Japan. Expectations are more earthquakes will follow the coming days.
The consequences of these forces of nature are yet of unknown proportion. Large parts of Japan have been heavily affected and thousands have lost their lives and are missing. For further information we advise to follow the news on NHK World, BBC or Kyodo News Agency. Also, The Japan Times - the best English language online newspaper – gives a lot of information.
Our thoughts go out to everyone in Japan and especially to those who have been affected by this vast disaster.
