News - Activities
With dismay the Japan Museum SieboldHuis has followed the events unfolding in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami last Friday March 11. To show its support to all the people in Japan, the SieboldHuis and its visitors will fold 1000 (or more) origami cranes on Saturday March 19, from 13:00 to 17:00 hours. In Japan the crane is a symbol for a wish coming true. With this event the SieboldHuis wishes to give Japan and its people hope and strength in these difficult times.
The SieboldHuis invites everyone who wishes to show their support for Japan to come to Leiden this coming Saturday to make a crane of their own. Folding an origami crane is easy to learn, for young and old. Any other tokens of support (music, a workshop, art, etc) are also more than welcome. You can sign up supporting activities by contacting Heleen Palmen via e-mail (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) or by telephone: 071-5125539. We will do our best to find a spot for everyone. Any monetary donations can be made to the Japanese Red Cross on the day itself or by bank transfer. You can further follow this event on Twitter (#ActieVoorJapan) and on the Facebook page ‘Actie voor Japan’.
So please, come to the SieboldHuis on Saturday between 13:00 and 17:00 hours and help us fold those thousand cranes for Japan.
This event is co-organised by the Leiden AlumniKai ‘Van hier tot Tokyo’.
Everybody is invited between 13:00 and 15:00 hours to join us at any moment to help folding 1000 cranes for Japan. So come to the SieboldHuis, join in with all your friends so we will reach the 1000 cranes!
